It started with a drawing and dirt over solid rock.  The back yard was bare other than a few rocks and a couple of shrubs in the corner.  How do people live with that for 7 years?  The previous homeowners did.  There's no reason to have a backyard if there's nothing to see or do.  The 'after' shot below was right after the pool was finished, but before the landscaping was put in.
